Before Modi came to power, India was a 'Quasi Muslim state': BJP

New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) The BJP on Thursday alleged that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was deliberately spreading hatred against the Hindu religion and said that India was a "quasi Muslim state" before the Narendra Modi-led government came to power in 2014.

"I say this because Sharia law was part of the Indian Constitution, whether it was Triple Talaq or Haj subsidy. Many times, even the judgements of Supreme Court were turned down in Parliament, to keep the Sharia law intact over the Constitution," BJP Spokesperson Sidhanshu Trivedi alleged in a press conference here.

"This has not happened even in Muslim majority countries, where rulings of their top court were considered supreme," he added.

Alleging that the comments against 'Hindutva' were a "pre-planned" attempt by the grand old party, Trivedi said Rahul is spreading communal politics in the country and should apologise to the nation for this.

"It seems that Rahul Gandhi is running a campaign to train his party workers to spread hatred against Hindutva."

Slamming Congress leader Salman Khurshid for his remarks on Hindutva in his book, he said the Congress, being out of power, is getting desperate, so they are comparing Hindutva with ISIS and Boko haram.

Khurshid in the chapter called 'The Saffron Sky' of the book 'Sunrise Over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times' has compared Hindutva to ISIS and Boko Haram.

"On one occasion, Salman Khurshid in his book compares Hindu organisations with Boko Haram. On another, Rashid Alvi calls those who believe in Lord Ram as nocturnals. Even Rahul Gandhi has expressed hatred while interpreting Hinduism," Trivedi said.
