Mamata Banerjee-led ruling TMC nominates former Goa CM Luizinho Faleiro for RS candidate

Kolkata, Nov 13 (UNI) Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress on Saturday nominated former Goa chief minister Luizinho Faleiro as the party candidate for Rajya Sabha from West Bengal.

The All India Trinamool Congress tweeted, " We are extremely pleased to nominate @luizinhofaleiro to the Upper House of the Parliament. We are confident that his efforts towards serving thenation shall be appreciated widely by our people! '

AITC supremo Mamata Banerjee, who had already visited Goa, is eyeing to unseat the BJP-led government in that state in next year's Assembly poll.

Seventy-year-old Faleiro, who joined the TMC some months back, is the national vice-president of the party.

Recently TMC leader Aprita Ghosh quit the Rajya Sabha seat to which the election will be held on November 29.

November 16 is the last date for submitting the nomination papers.

Sources said, Mr Faleiro, who is in the city, is expected to file his nomination papers early next week.
