New Delhi: A 31-year-old lift operator was found dead on the 7th floor of the Saket Court on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Yogesh Kumar, a resident of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.  A sanitation employee named Akash detected the body near the fire exit staircase of the building. Police said it is suspected that the death was natural as no injury mark is found on his body.

“A team rushed to the spot. During probe we found that one Akash, who works as a sweeper, found the body on the seventh floor (close to the fire exit staircase) of the building,” an officer told Times of India.

For the past 4 years, Yogesh was an employee of Swastik Electrotech Pvt Ltd in Kalu Sarai, Hauz Khas. Speaking to reporters, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Benita Mary Jaiker said, “Yogesh regularly consumed liquor and other intoxicants, and had not turned up for work in the last 3-4 days. He never remained punctual on his duty, due to which he was taken off the job of lift operator and was assigned other sundry works such as cleaning by his supervisor.”

Meanwhile, his body has been sent to AIIMS for the post-mortem examination and a case under section 174 of the criminal procedure code has been lodged for further investigations.

Notably, this is the second incident in a week in which a person has been found dead in court premises. Earlier this week, a 30-year-old employee of the Delhi Bar Association was found dead inside a chamber in the Tis Hazari Court. The deceased, identified as Manoj, was a temporary employee of the Delhi Bar Association.
