The judge presiding over the Kyle Rittenhouse trial has been slammed as a racist and had his life threatened in a torrent of abusive and menacing emails, letters, postcards and faxes received by Kenosha County Courthouse and seen by DailyMail.com

DailyMail.com has reviewed the hundreds of offensive communications sent to Judge Bruce Schroeder, and today we can reveal the extraordinary outpouring of vitriol that the high-profile trial has inspired.

One email, sent Wednesday, reads simply, 'Wow way to name a white skinhead hot head to be a judge. No wonder they burn down your city.'

Others calls for the 'racist' judge, the longest serving in the county, to be dismissed and disbarred.

One addressed to 'Your Honor' reads, 'I didn't know that under your black robes of justice you wear a white robe of the klan. There is no way a fair trial can be heard under your supervision. Better yet, resign.'

Along with what were perceived to be one-sided rulings against the prosecution, the  judge has been lambasted for everything from his God Bless America ringtone to his joke about whether his Chinese lunch when he said 'I hope the Asian food isn't coming … isn't on one of those boats from Long Beach Harbor.'

Among the most disturbing messages to the judge was one that threatens the lives of the judge's children, promises 'pay back,' and states that Rittenhouse 'won't live long' if acquitted.

The email, much of which is too offensive to reproduce, states the hope that one day Judge Schroeder's 'kids become victims to the most heinous homicide known to man so he feels the pain an [sic]we will call his kids not victims but b******s.'

It is one of a deluge of hate-filled missives that were sent as a direct response to the judge's ruling last month that prosecutors could not refer to Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber and Gaige Grosskreutz - the men shot by Rittenhouse - as 'victims.'

Meanwhile he permitted the defense to use the terms 'looters' and 'rioters' when describing the events of the night of August 25, 2020, when Rittenhouse shot the three men during a night of BLM protests and rioting.

The unrest flared last summer in the wake of a Kenosha police shooting of black man, Jacob Blake. It was in Blake's name that some of the people present marched across three nights that descended into violence during which Kenosha burned.

Another sinister email sent in reaction to the October ruling reads, 'This is outrageous…What fresh hell is this???? Rittenhouse is a murderous thug and trying to protect him says a LOT about this judge.

'We are watching.'

It continues, 'Enjoy your term, judge, it's going to be your LAST. If I ever meet you in person, I fully intend to spit directly into your face, regardless the cost. You're disgusting.'

The emailer signs off, as many do, using his full name.

Speaking in court earlier this week Judge Schroeder referenced the 'thousands of communications,' that he and his staff have received in the course of the trial which has been watched by millions.

He promised he would 'deal with' the senders and said, 'I wouldn't want to be those people.'

Numerous emails are, of course, sent anonymously or using pseudonyms.

One claiming to be from Jesus is signed J.C. It reads, 'Make sure and tell Schroeder what a worthless piece of s*** he is. He'll find out officially when his heart seizes up I a few years and he has to stand before a real judge.'

The judge again gave a nod to the influx of emails he has received on Friday when he heard arguments for the inclusion of lesser charges and the details of jury instructions in the case.

Informing defense attorney Corey Chirafisi that motions are emailed to him directly in Kenosha rather than via his clerk he said, 'Believe me I wish fewer people had my email address these days.'

And while the judge made light today in court, a police car sits outside his property guarding him 24/7.

Closing arguments will take place on Monday, when the jury will begin its deliberations, as the case that has dominated this small Wisconsin town since last summer draws to its tumultuous close and Kenosha braces for the outcome.

What's next in the Kenosha shooter trial?

MONDAY

Closing arguments begin and Judge Schroeder will instruct the jury on the law and how they are to apply it on each charge. The judge has placed a cap of two and a half hours on closing arguments for both sides, time which is to include any rebuttal they should wish to make.

THE JURY

The jury will not return to the courthouse until Monday when names will be drawn to determine the 12 who will deliberate. Eighteen of the original 20 jurors remain after one was excused on medical grounds and another was removed having made a racial 'joke' to a court deputy.

THE CHARGES

As it stands 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse is charged on six counts: First Degree Reckless Homicide, Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the death of Joseph Rosenbaum, First Degree Intentional Homicide, First Degree Attempted Intentional Homicide, Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the shootings of both Anthony Huber and Gaige Grosskreutz, First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety in the case of Richie McGinniss who was all but in the line of fire when Rosenbaum was shot and 'jump-kick man' – the unidentified male at whom Rittenhouse shot twice – and one count of Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Person Under 18.

A seventh curfew violation was dismissed earlier in the week.

POSSIBLE SENTENCES

The most serious charges, first-degree intentional homicide, carries a mandatory life sentence, while attempted first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree reckless homicide, are both punishable by up to 60 years in prison.

First-degree reckless endangerment carries a maximum prison term of 12 years and requires prosecutors to show that Rittenhouse put someone in harm's way by showing an utter disregard for life.
