Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin presents an appreciation certificate to woman inspector of police Rajeshwari on Friday.
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Friday presented an appreciation certificate to woman inspector of police Rajeshwari for rescuing a man lying unconscious in a cemetery at Ayanavaram and sending him to Government Hospital for his treatment.
Rajeshwari lifted the man, Udaya, 25, of Shenoy Nagar and placed him on the back seat of an autorickshaw to send him to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital.
However, on Friday, Udaya died without responding to treatment.
The Chennai city police have rescued 4,810 people, including 1,840 men, 1,963 women, 994 children and nine transsexuals, and kept them in 87 rescue shelters, corporation community centres and corporation schools. Police inspectors were assigned to provide food to these rescued people.
The police have formed 13 rescue teams. Each team was assigned to rescue stranded people stranded.
