SC transfers Manish Gupta death case to CBI

New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday directed the transfer of trial in the death case of a Kanpur-based businessman, in which six UP policemen have been charged with murder, from the state of Uttar Pradesh to a CBI court in Delhi.

A bench of Apex Court, headed by Justice Dhananjaya Yashwant Chandrachud, passed the order on an appeal filed by the widow of deceased Manish Gupta.

According to police, the 36-year-old property dealer died in a Gorakhpur hotel of Uttar Pradesh during a police raid in September. Manish's wife had alleged that he had died after being allegedly assaulted by the police. The six policemen, allegedly involved in the killing, were arrested by the UP police last month.
