The Justice Department on Friday said Steve Bannon, a longtime ally and aide to former President Donald Trump, was indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts of contempt of Congress stemming from his failure to comply with a subpoena issued by the House panel investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The House voted last month to hold Bannon in contempt of Congress, sending the matter to the U.S. attorney's office in Washington.
