Lady Gaga heaps praise on legendary House Of Gucci director Ridley Scott for 'empowering a woman to be ugly on camera'
She may have been taking on the character of real life high-fashion socialite Patrizia Reggiani.
But Lady Gaga praised her director for empowering her to be 'ugly' in the role.
The 35-year-old entertainer gushed about working with legendary film director Ridley Scott, 83, on House Of Gucci in a new interview with the New York Times.

Gaga praised the Alien director for collaborating with her on the role of Reggiani - who famously plotted the death of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) - as the filmmmaker made her feel 'empowered... as a woman.'
The Bad Romance hitmaker explained: 'I have to say this, Ridley: There's not a lot of men that are directors who would empower a woman to be ugly on camera.'
As the film documents, Patrizia had married into the Gucci empire but is dropped from the iconic fashion family when Maurizio left her from a younger woman.

Gaga said that Scott did not try to make the events and her character out to be much more glamorous than they actually were as she said: 'When I aged and had scenes where I was in this embarrassing, desperate state, he embraced the ugliness of this character and that should be commended, because it is ugly to be disposed of for your looks, it is ugly to be left for a younger woman.
'So I appreciate that Ridley took something that was sort of a "sexy murder" and he let it be ugly'
The praise did not end there as she said that Scott's collaborative nature on the project made for the most pleasant experience that she's ever had for a filmmaker.

The cold-blooded murder of fashion scion Maurizio Gucci in 1995 shocked the world – especially when his glamorous ex-wife Patrizia was found guilty of arranging it.
During the murder trial, which transfixed Italy, Reggiani arrived each day wearing head-to-toe Gucci clothes and accessories.
The court heard how she had ordered the murder of her husband after he offered her $650,000 in a divorce settlement.

House Of Gucci - which also stars Salma Hayek, Jared Leto, Al Pacino, and Jeremy Irons - is set for release in the US on Wednesday, November 24 with a UK release following two days later on November 26.
