Imphal, November 11 2021: Manipur University vice chancellor professor Naorem Lokendra has said that law department of Manipur University opened in 2018 is the only such department to be opened in universities of the North East after Guwahati University.

The VC stated this during the opening function of a State Level Moot-Court Competition organised by the Department of Law, Manipur University with the help of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) on Thursday.

Speaking as chief guest of the event, professor Lokendra confided that Manipur University is planning to begin under-graduate 5 years bachelor of law course from the next academic session and discussion in this regard will be held at the academic council.

He also expressed that the competition held on Thursday will be helpful to students in learning law and its practices.

The event was also attended by MSLSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum and associate professor Dr Yumnam Premananda of Department of Law, Manipur University.
