NEW DELHI: Actor, filmmaker and TMC leader Bratya Basu levelled charges of political manoeuvring at the Union government after his Bengali film, ‘Dictionary’, was not included for screening at the 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, which was attributed to a “spelling mistake”. Referring to the decision as “politically driven”, Basu said in Kolkata that he had received written confirmation from the festival organisers about the film’s selection on November 5. However, he claimed IFFI “surprisingly omitted the film from the list” a day later.
