Veterans were honored last week with the annual Veterans Day holiday, but the needs of veterans are not always met. Too many stories about the health and wellness needs of veterans seem to be neglected.

Advanced Dental Care of East Texas stepped up five years ago and decided that they could show their appreciation for veterans in a special way.

Dr. Eric Koch and his team hosted their Veterans Dental Day last Friday from 9 a.m. until all those registered were served. They offered teeth cleanings, filling for a tooth and tooth extractions all at no charge to the veteran.

Life Share Blood Center was on hand for a blood drive, and all the veterans and donors were treated to a barbecue sandwich meal.

“It is our pleasure to make this day available to those who have served our county,” Mylette Malone, office manager at Advanced Dental Care said.

This is the fourth annual Veterans Dental Day as it was not held last year due to the pandemic. Well over 20 veterans were registered by 9:30 a.m., and Dr. Koch was unavailable for comment due to how busy the day was.

These services can be expensive, as anyone who has been to the dentist can attest. For them to be made available for free is a sacrifice for Dr. Koch and his practice, but it is giving back to those who have already given so much.

Advanced Dental Care of East Texas is located at 211 East Houston St. in downtown Jasper.
