Margao: Senior citizens, who have crossed the age of 80 and the persons with disabilities (PwD) will be allowed to vote from home through postal ballot papers, and a team will be constituted by the office of the Election Commission to provide the said facility.
This is informed to the representatives of the political parties during a meeting held by the Additional Collector Sanjit Rodrigues on Friday at the South Goa Collectorate as a part of the programme of summary revision of election rolls.
The political parties are asked to appoint the booth-level agents ( BLAs).
“The meeting was held to interact with the political parties on the ongoing summary revision roll which is ongoing from November 1. We updated the political parties, provided them the necessary forms. Efforts are being also made to identify the voters (persons died due to COVID) and to clear their names from the election roll,” Rodrigues said adding that the senior citizens who have completed the 80 years of age will be given the facility to vote through ballot papers.
Durgadas Kamat, who represented the Goa Forward Party (GFP) at the meeting informed that the Election Commission will form a team of officials to provide ballot paper voting facility from home for the senior citizens, who have crossed 80 years of age.
Such service will also be provided to the COVID patients who do not want to come at the polling booths at the time of election, he added.
Navin Pai Raikar, the representative of the BJP said that the Additional Collector informed them that special persons (Persons with Disablities) will be made availble a facility to vote through postal ballot papers.
