As part of Doha being named the 'Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021', the MIA hosted a poetry evening in co-operation with the Ministry of Culture represented by the Qatar Poetry Centre (Diwan Al Arab).

As part of Doha being named the 'Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021', the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) hosted a poetry evening in co-operation with the Ministry of Culture represented by the Qatar Poetry Centre (Diwan Al Arab). In attendance were Ahmad Musa al-Namla, CEO of Qatar Museums; HE Sheikh Faisal bin AbdulAziz al-Thani, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Islamic Art; Dr Hassan Rashid al-Derham, president of Qatar University; Faleh al-Ajlan al-Hajri, adviser to HE the Minister of Culture, as well as a group of distinguished poets and members of the wider community. Poets Nasser al-Wabeer, Hamad al-Baridi and Radi al-Hajri participated in the poetry evening, moderated by Atta Mohamed.
