VARANASI: After setting a target of winning over 300 seats again in the 2022 UP assembly elections at a recent meet with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Lucknow, Union home minister Amit Shah will check the preparedness from assembly units to 'panna pramukh' level at a meeting with party poll managers in Kashi on Friday.
In view of the meeting of BJP poll managers with Shah, Union education minister and UP election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, hectic preparations were underway at the Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Trade Facilitation Centre on Thursday. The men in khaki, led by commissioner of police A Satish Ganesh, also reviewed the security plan in view of the VIP visit.

BJP Kashi region unit president Mahesh Chand Srivastava, said, "The party's UP in-charge Radhe Mohan Singh has reached the city. State chief Swatantrata Dev Singh and senior office-bearers and leaders are also coming for the Friday's meet. Pradhan will reach the city in the morning to address the initial session in the afternoon, while Shah will take part in the meeting from 5.30 pm till 8 pm. CM Yogi Adityanath will also take part in the evening session."
Supervising the arrangements for the meeting to be attended by 403 assembly area in-charges and 98 office-bearers of the organisation, regional and district units, Srivastava and other BJP leaders said, "The meeting on Friday will be purely on organisational issues related to poll preparations."
They said that the preparedness of the units right from district and assembly level to divisional, ward, shakti kendra, booth and panna pramukh (in-charge of voter list pages), which had been key in ensuring miraculous performance of the party in 2014 and 2019 parliamentary and 2017 assembly elections, will be reviewed during these sessions. The in-charges of each unit would be given the task of further strengthening the structure, they said.
Providing details of Shah's visit, Kashi regional unit spokesman Navratan Rathi said that after landing at LBSI airport around 5 pm, Shah will directly reach DDU-TFC, where he will address the party meet and also see the museum.
"Following night stay at Amethi Kothi in Varanasi, he will address the All India Rajbhasha Sammelan at DDU-TFC on Saturday morning. He will later leave for Azamgarh to lay the foundation of the university and address a public meeting," said Rathi.
