Dibrugarh, Nov 11: A fire broke out at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Assam Medical College and Hospital’s Paediatric ward in upper Assam Dibrugarh on Wednesday evening.
Dr. Prasanta Dehingia, the superintendent of AMCH informed that the fire originated from one of monitors in the ward after which it was almost immediately doused by the alert staff on duty.
No casualty or injury has been reported. Around 10 to 12 infants undergoing treatment at the ward were shifted for safety reasons.
Dehingia said that an inquiry will be conducted to find out the reasons behind the fire incident and to fix responsibilities.
Sources said that an electrical short circuit might be the reason behind the incident. It might be mentioned that there was a similar fire incident around six months back at the 200 bedded mother and child ward of AMCH.
