TPR rises to 4.2 pc, 78 new cases detected

Imphal, November 11 2021: As the threat of Covid-19 continues to linger, the state on Thursday reported a spike in the daily test positivity rate with government bulletins reporting one new fatality and 78 new positive cases out of 1845 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 4.23 per cent against Wednesday's 2.92 percent.
The lone fatality reported on Thursday was an unvaccinated resident of Imphal West district and it took the cumulative tally of death cases from Covid-19 in the state to 1941 .
Out of the 16 districts, only nine reported fresh Covid cases on Thursday with Imphal West recording highest cases at 30.In terms of positivity rate, Imphal East district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 7.3 per cent while Bishnupur district recorded lowest positivity rate at 1.1 per cent.
Jiribam, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Noney, Pherzawl, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts did not report any new positive cases.
The active caseload rose to 761, out of which 61 (8.02 per cent) are in home isolation, 111 (14.59 per cent) in CCCs, and 150 (19.71 per cent) in hospitals while whereabouts of 439 patients (57.69 per cent) are not known as all the CHICs have been shut down.
Among the hospitalised patients, 39 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 26 are on oxygen support and eight on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support at JNIMS even though it has 91 patients.
On the other hand, none of the patients in the CCCs are on oxygen support.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Wednesday evening, 714 beds including 139 ICU/ HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2566 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 464 beds (31 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 94,928 positive cases and 1567 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month reported 597 new positive cases and 20 death cases out of which 371 new cases and 14 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 78 new positive cases included 77 civilians (31 male & 46 female) and one from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (8), JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (67).The positive cases from among the civilians are from Imphal East (22), Imphal West (30), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (17), Senapati (2) and Ukhrul (1) .
In the last 24 hours, 40 patients were discharged from home isolation (12), RIMS (1), JNIMS (14) and CCCs (13) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,24,328 (general population - 1,19,982 and CAPF personnel - 4,346).Number of recovered cases is 1,21,626 (general population - 1,17,298 and CAPF personnel - 4,328) arid number of active cases is 761 (general population - 748 and CAPF personnel - 13).The recovery rate is 97.83 per cent.
A total of 292 D-type and 25 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours during which 8088 vaccine doses were also administered taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,56,919 including 7,76,163 fully vaccinated persons.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,411), Imphal East (27,546), Thoubal (9459), Churachandpur (10,161), Kangpokpi (2783), Tamenglong (3283), Bishnupur (9172), Senapati (2236), Ukhrul (2963), Kakching (6409), Chandel (2342), Noney (1069), Tengnoupal (1070), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (938) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (645), Imphal East (461), Thoubal (176), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (42), Kakching (112), Chandel (39), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,067 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,600 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,46,533 tests per million population against the national average of 4,43,287 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1845 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 4.23 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.97 per cent.
