Shillong, Nov 12 (UNI) Fresh cases of COVID-19 infections outnumbered the number of recoveries, while no COVID-19 related death was recorded in Meghalaya on Friday, health officials said.
Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said 44 new COVID-19 cases was detected, which added up to 296 active cases and 21 more cases of recovery from the viral infection, which surged
the number of recovered cases to 82,248.
The state has so far registered 84,006 confirmed COVID-19 cases, which include 1,462 fatalities
due to the viral disease.
The COVID-19 cases detected on Friday included 32 in East Khasi Hills district, three each in East Jaintia Hills district, West Garo Hills district, and West Khasi Hills district and one each in East Garo Hills district Ri-Bhoi district and West Jaintia Hills district, the health official said.
As per the latest official case count, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the most pandemic-hit East Khasi Hills district, which includes state capital Shillong is 215, followed by 25 in West Garo Hills district, 21 in West Khasi Hills district, 15 in Ri-Bhoi district, eight in East Garo Hills district, five in West Jaintia Hills district, four in East Jaintia Hills district, one each in South Garo Hills district, South West Garo Hills district and South West Khasi Hills district , while there was no active case in North Garo Hills.
Meanwhile, of the 11,73,324 persons tested for COVID-19 in the State till today, 10,89,228 were tested negative for the virus, as per official report.
On the other hand, 32,080 health care workers have received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 and 28,476 have been administered with the second dose, 96,966 front-line workers have got the first jab and 81,376 have taken the second shot, 9,94,126 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 6,01,454 have been fully vaccinated with the
second dose across the state as on date, health officials said.
