Screen grab of the viral video
GREATER NOIDA: Two days after an accused in a theft and cheating case fled from the Surajpur court, a CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral where the accused can simply be seen rushing out of the courtroom.
In an eleven-second video of the CCTV footage of the incident, the accused Shiv Kumar can be seen hurriedly walking out of the courtroom.
His nervousness is clear as he can be seen turning back once to check if he is being followed as he tries to make a way out of the corridor of court number 13.
Wearing a light colour sweatshirt, the accused has been captured hurriedly moving out of the courtroom at 1:37 pm on Monday.
A police officer said he simply slipped out of the courtroom taking advantage of the laxity on part of the police officers accompanying him.
“Police officers have to untie the accused during court proceedings. It seems, since there were total four accused, Shiv Kumar took advantage of their inattentiveness,” he said.
Both Bulandshahr and GBNagar police have launched a manhunt for the accused Shiv who remains absconding.
Surajpur police say they have formed two teams for searching for the accused and the Bulandshahr police’s crime branch is also searching for the accused.
“A wireless message was splashed about the accused across the different police stations and a search has been launched,” he said.
A well-known thug in Bulandshahr’s Sikandrabad area, Shiv Kumar has three cases of theft and cheating lodged against him.
Shiv was brought to the Surajpur court by a team of Bulandshahr police for a remand hearing but he fled from the police custody from the premises of the court of additional chief judicial magistrate I in Surajpur on Monday.
While he was incarcerated in the Bulandshahr jail for the past few months, he simply “vanished” from the court premises where his hands were untied for the court proceedings and walked out of the gate number 2 meant for the entry and exit of the public.
His involvement was suspected in a similar case lodged in Dankaur police station.
TOI had reported about an elderly couple travelling from Ghaziabad to Greater Noida’s Kanarsi village who were allegedly tricked by a scooter-borne thug who escaped with their cash, mobile and belongings after giving them a lift till Dankaur’s Kanarsi.
The accused had tricked 84-year-old Kunwarpal into handing over his purse to him but fled after taking away cash of Rs. 21000, mobile and other belongings after he asked the couple to deboard his scooter pretending to stop for answering the nature’s call.
