Active cases rise, two die, 64 infected

Imphal, November 10 2021: Active caseload of Covid-19 is witnessing an uphill trend in the last two days with number of new cases in the state exceeding number of recoveries and it reached 724 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, government bulletins reported two fatalities along with 64 new cases of Covid-19 out of 2194 samples tested on Wednesday registering a positivity rate of 2.92 per cent against 2.26 per cent recorded on Tuesday.
The two fatalities reported on Wednesday were unvaccinated residents of Imphal West and Thoubal districts and they took the cumulative tally of death cases to 1940 .
Out of the 16 districts, only eight reported fresh Covid cases on Wednesday with Imphal West reporting highest cases at 44.In terms of positivity rate, Ukhrul district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 7.4 per cent while Bishnupur district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.6 percent.
Chandel, Jiribam, Kakching, Kamjong, Pherzawl, Senapati, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts did not report any new positive cases.
Out of the 724 active cases, 53 (7.32 per cent) are in home isolation, 119 (16.44 per cent) in CCCs, and 156 (21.55 per cent) in hospitals while whereabouts of 396 patients (54.70 per cent) are unaccounted for as all the CHICs have been shut down.
Among the hospitalised patients, 43 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 28 are on oxygen support and 10 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 94 patients.
On the other hand, there is only patient on oxygen support in one of the CCCs.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Tuesday evening, 711 beds including 135 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2558 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 461 beds (31 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 94,850 positive Cases and 1566 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month reported 519 new positive cases and 19 death cases out of which 351 new cases and 14 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone According to official reports, the 64 new positive cases included 63 people (27 male & 36 female) from among the general population and one from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (5), JNIMS (5) and other testing centres (54).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (9), Imphal West (44), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (1), Churachandpur (2), Kangpokpi (1) and Ukhrul (4).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 45 patients were discharged from home isolation (11), RIMS (2), JNIMS (6) and CCCs (26).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,24,250 (general population -1,19,905 and CAPF personnel - 4,345) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,21,586 (general population - 1,17,260 and CAPF personnel - 4,326) and number of active cases is 724 (general population - 710 and CAPF personnel - 14).The recovery rate is 97.86 per cent.
A total of 524 D-type and 141 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, 7538 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 12,55,650 including 7,69,050 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,381), Imphal East (27,523), Thoubal (9457), Churachandpur (10,144), Kangpokpi (2783), Tamenglong (3283), Bishnupur (9171), Senapati (2234), Ukhrul (2962), Kakching (6408), Chandel (2341), Noney (1069), Tengnoupal (1070), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (938) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (644), Imphal East (461), Thoubal (176), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (42), Kakching (112), Chandel (39), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,042 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,591 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,45,938 tests per million population against the national average of 4,42,298 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2194 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 2.92 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.98 per cent.
