Fujitsu says the vaccination roadmap is part of its continued commitment to the safety of its employees and other people the company’s employees work with.
The roadmap includes a proposed policy that all persons entering a Fujitsu workplace (including data centres, warehouses and offices), attending a Fujitsu work-related event or entering other premises to undertake work on Fujitsu’s behalf will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Fujitsu says the proposed policy will allow for valid exemptions to be managed on a case-by-case basis and it will be consulting with employees regarding the details and implementation of the policy between 10 November and 22 November 2021.
Fujitsu says that unless public health orders come into effect sooner, the proposed policy will commence on 29 November 2021, and the proposed timeline for the effective date of the policy is the 6 January 2022 for a first dose and 11 February 2022 for a second dose,
Graeme Beardsell, Chief Executive Officer at Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand, said, “As a business, we have a duty to ensure that our working environment is as safe as reasonably practical for our people. As we enter the next phase of the pandemic and learning to live with COVID-19, we recognise that vaccinations are a key part of helping to keep our people and those of our customers and suppliers safe.
“We have been listening to our employees and look forward to engaging them further in a series of consultations on our COVID-19 Vaccination Roadmap to get their feedback on the proposed policy in Australia and New Zealand.”
Fujitsu said the proposed policy has been preceded by a detailed risk assessment and a companywide survey to seek employees’ views on vaccination.
“The survey results showed the majority of staff had received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination or intend to be vaccinated. About three quarters of the respondents also expressed strong support for work-related vaccination requirements and around three quarters of staff expressed concerns for themselves or others about returning to the workplace if other staff are unvaccinated.,” Fujitsu said.
Fujitsu says that as part of its COVID-19 Vaccination Roadmap, fully vaccinated employees in Australia and New Zealand are “welcome to return to the office on 29 November 2021 (relevant Public Health Orders allowing)”.
The Fujitsu COVID-19 Vaccination Roadmap relates solely to Australia and New Zealand within Fujitsu and not the broader Fujitsu organisation.
