Rainwater has begun to accumulate on roadways and residential areas in the Cuddalore district, as is customary. Bokline machines are being used by officials from the Department of Public Works and Urban and Rural Development to remove them. Due to recent severe rains, the Umangalam wayside canal on the Virudhachalam-Cuddalore road has been flooded. However, because of the dense vegetation at the canal's foot, the water was unable to drain rapidly and invaded the bridge and marshy fields. The Public Works Water Resources Department is dredging in the aftermath of the torrential rain.

Rainwater has collected on the roads, causing potholes. The Virudhachalam-Cuddalore National Highway has a few tiny potholes. They were pouring concrete mixes while it was still raining, rather than doing work when it stopped raining in these rough regions. "We have constructed a barrier to prevent vehicles from approaching the area for 2 hours," the superintendent of the fire department there replied when asked about it. It will be a firm fixed by then. 

As a result, there will be no issues. "What can we do about it?" is the response to the query, "Is it raining?" That prompted a counter-question. Every year, the public works and highways departments continue to conduct the work that has to be done before and after the rains, knowing that if it is done during the rainy season, a permanent solution would not be found.
