Chennai, Nov 11 (UNI) Braving heavy rains, a barefooted woman cop rescued a 28-year-old
youth, who was found unconscious under an uprooted tree at a cemetry, carried him on her
shoulders and shifted him to a hospital at TP Chathiram area in the city on Thursday.
Police sources said the youth Udayakumar was employed at the cemetry. He had stayed back
and slept in the Kilpauk cemetry last night in view of the heavy rains.
Suddenly, a huge tree got uprooted due to gusty winds and Udayakumar was trapped under it.
Acting on information that a youth was trapped under a tree and was found to be unconscious,
TP Chathiram Woman Inspector Rajeswari, along with fire service personnel, cleared the
uprooted tree and rescued him.
Later, Ms Rajeswari carried him on her shoulders and shifted him to the Kilpauk Government
Medical College hospital for treatment.

In another interesting incident, a couple, braving adverse conditions, floods and non-stop rains,
entered into a wedlock at Villivakkam area in the city.
The wedding took place in front of a temple.
The newly-wedded couple later waded through the flooded road and reached her residence.
