Varun Gandhi complains to Kangana Ranaut about ‘real freedom in 2014’

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Varun Gandhi on Thursday criticized Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for her “India claimed its true independence in 2014” remark, saying it was an insult to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation. While sharing the actress’ video, he said he wondered if he should call her idea “madness” or “betrayal”.

He said: “Earlier she insulted Mahatma Gandhi, humiliated his sacrifices, honored his killer and now Shaheed Mangal Pandey, Rani Lakshmibai, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and some freedom fighters. Should I waanin itin. call high treason? ”

In a recent TV program, Kangana Ranaut said that what India achieved in 1947 was “bheek” (alms), while the “real freedom” was achieved in 2014, referring to the BJP’s victory in the Lok Sabha. election.

Kangana Ranaut was recently honored with the prestigious Padma Shri Award.

Meanwhile, Varun Gandhi was in the spotlight for his controversial statements on issues such as farmers’ agitation, Lakhimpur Kheri violence, purchase of paddy, etc.

After his Lakhimpur Kheri tweets caused a stir, BJP national president JP Nadda fired him from the party’s national executive.
