Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India on December 6 for the annual Summit in what would be his second trip abroad since the outbreak of the pandemic.
A number of engagements are expected ahead of the big visit, including the first 2+2 (foreign & defence ministerial) meeting and a joint military commission in New Delhi, ET has learnt.
The last edition of the Summit in 2020 had to be postponed due to the pandemic. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, Putin has travelled only to Geneva for the landmark Summit with the US President.
Several pacts in the fields of defence, economy, trade, science and technology are expected to be signed during the visit. Big-ticket items for the summit include a document on military-technical cooperation for the next decade (2021-2031), a mutual logistics services agreement for the two militaries besides economic and energy pacts.
