Shares of Phoenix Mills(up 1.79 per cent), Brigade Enterprises(up 1.04 per cent) and Macrotech Developers(up 0.22 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, DLF(down 4.26 per cent), Prestige Estates Projects(down 3.66 per cent), Godrej Properties(down 3.24 per cent), Oberoi Realty(down 2.46 per cent) and Indiabulls Real Estate(down 1.81 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Realty index closed 2.33 per cent down at 535.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 143.6 points at 17873.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 433.13 points at 59919.69.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 ended in the green, while 41 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., Bank of Baroda and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Monte Carlo Fashion, Silly Monks Entertai, Patel Integrat(PP), DC Infotech and Lakshmi Finance hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vikas WSP, P&G Health, Strides Shasun, Walpar Nutritions Ltd. and IRIS Business Servic hit their fresh 52-week lows.
