Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Thursday at 11:01AM

Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 10.34%), Voltamp Transformers(up 6.83%), Indo Tech Transformers(up 4.98%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.67%), Energy Development Company(up 4.66%), Indowind Energy(up 4.64%), Karma Energy(up 2.76%), KEC International(up 1.79%), Suzlon Energy(up 1.43%) and Adani Transmissions(up 1.40%) were among the top gainers.

NTL(down 4.88%), Alstom T&D India(down 3.40%), Inox wind(down 2.47%), Jyoti Structures(down 1.49%), Torrent Power(down 1.41%), NLC India(down 1.36%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.30%), RTNPOWER(down 1.25%), NTPC(down 1.24%) and Adani Power(down 1.23%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 158.2 points down at 17859.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 505.12 points at 59847.7 at around 11:01AM.

Titan Company Ltd(up 1.65%), Larsen & Toubro(up 1.17%), Grasim Industries(up 0.42%), IndusInd Bank(up 0.26%), Tata Steel(up 0.17%), JSW Steel(up 0.07%) and Maruti Suzuki(up 0.05%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Indian Oil Corporation(down 3.73%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 2.66%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.65%), Tech Mahindra(down 2.64%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 1.86%), State Bank of India(down 1.75%), Eicher Motors(down 1.71%), Bajaj Finance(down 1.64%), Infosys(down 1.59%) and Wipro(down 1.46%) were trading in the red.
