Rome man pleads guilty in federal court to taking explicit photos, videos of children
A 56-year-old Rome man pleaded guilty to child pornography charges Tuesday in federal court in Syracuse.
Michael Mayhew was arrested last September under allegations he took sexually explicit photos of a child. On Tuesday he pleaded to one count of receipt of child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography, admitting he photographed and video-recorded children in his home and downloaded numerous graphic videos of minors, according to court records.

Mayhew is scheduled to be sentenced March 9 of next year. He faces five to 20 years in prison, with five years to life of supervised release, according to court records. Mayhew must also register as a sex offender and pay restitution to the children.
He is currently being held in Oneida County jail, according to jail records.
