Andrew Omobamidele is out of the Portugal match

ANDREW Omobamidele has lost his fitness battle and will play no part in tonight's World Cup tie at home to Portugal.

The Norwich City defender was an injury concern due to an Achilles problem, as manager Stephen Kenny revealed in his press conference on the eve of the game, but Omobamidele's name was not included when the FAI submitted their match-day squad to UEFA for the game, wide man Daryl Horgan also left out.

Nathan Collins is now expected to start in defence alongside Shane Duffy and John Egan while Kenny could also opt to rest Seamus Coleman ahead of Sunday's qualifier in Luxembourg.
