Mahesh Babu movie inspires Telangana man to build village school

Hyderabad: Popular Tollywood actor Mahesh Babu said on Wednesday he was driven beyond words to hear that his movie ‘Srimanthudu’ was the inspiration behind the construction of a high school in the Telanganas Kamareddy district.

He took to Twitter to thank Subhash Reddy, a businessman and philanthropist, who donated Rs 6 crore for building a public school at Bibipet. “We are incredibly humble Subhash Reddy ‘garu’. You are a real hero. We need more people like you, “the actor tweeted.

Mahesh Babu’s tweet was in response to the inauguration of the school by the state’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology KT Rama Rao and Minister of Education, P. Sabitha Indra Reddy.

KTR, as the minister is commonly known, tweeted photos of the school and the inauguration ceremony. During his speech, the Minister revealed that Subhash Reddy was inspired by the Mahesh Babu film.

“If I had known, I would have brought Mahesh Babu with me,” KTR said. “He would have been happy that some people, inspired by his movie, were doing such a great job,” he added.

The minister said he would invite Mahesh Babu when the work on a junior college also being built in the area was completed.

Mahesh Babu tweeted in his response that he will attend the event with his entire team. “Will make sure to visit the college with my entire team of ‘Srimanthudu’ once this noble project is completed,” the actor said.

KTR was all praise for building a public school building on a par with a privately run school. He said Subhash Reddy had set a new benchmark for schools run by the government.

‘Srimanthudu’, released in 2015, is the story of a young man who inherits a business empire, takes over his ancestral village and then tries to improve his infrastructure as well as the standard of living of the local people.
