Chip resistor maker Ta-I Technology will expand production capacity through setting up a factory in Vietnam, with production to be focused on miniaturized chip resistors for automotive and industrial applications as well as circuit protection and sensing devices consisting of chip fuses, ESD (electrostatic discharge) suppressors and current sensing components, according to the company at a November 9 investor conference.
With one factory in eastern China, one in southern China, and one in northern Taiwan, Ta-I has a total monthly production capacity of 40 billion chip resistors currently.
Ta-I is in a bid to hike the revenue proportion for circuit protection and sensing devices and decrease that for chip resistors and arrays, with the ratio of the former to the latter standing at 35:65 for the third quarter of 2021 and aimed at 40:60 for 2022.
Of the third-quarter 2021 consolidated revenues of NT$1.571 billion (US$56.2 million), Ta-I's direct sales accounted for 74%, 14% were via sales agents, 12% via ODM shipments.
