Siddipet: Siddipet Municipality has been selected for the Swachh Survekshan Award-2021 for its best waste collection practices of dry, waste and harmful waste. Municipal chairperson K Manjula and Commissioner KV Ramana Chary will receive the award from President Ramnath Kovind during a program in New Delhi on 20 November.
Municipal Commissioner KV Ramana Chary said that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs was considering the collection of dry, wet and harmful waste while selecting Siddipet for the award. He said they had investigated 50 indicators related to the collection of these three wastes in all civic bodies across the country and found Siddipet is one of the best in waste collection practices.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao congratulated the Siddipet people, Chairman K Manjula, Commissioner Chary, other officials and elected representatives on winning the award. The Minister said that Siddipet people played an important role in winning the award, the Minister said that people absolutely followed their proposals.
Siddipet Municipality has won 18 awards so far since 2012 for improving greenery, cleanliness, providing drinking water and others. Rao appealed to the citizens, elected representatives and officials to work with the same spirit to make Siddipet town the best town in the country in all categories. Chairman K Manjula said the dedicated work of Finance Minister T Harish Rao, municipal staff and citizens helped them win the award. She said the Minister was there to support them and show a way to make Siddipet a model in all categories.
