Farmers' training organised

Kakching, November 09 2021: A one-day district level farmers' training programme on horticulture farming organised under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) by horticulture and soil conservation, Tengnoupal district under the supervision of walnut development officer (Moreh) Mutum Nabachandra was held the conference hall of Tengnoupal Women's Society Self Help Group located at the DHQ on Tuesday.
Seeds of winter horticulture crops were also distributed to select farmers of the district under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) 1st Instalment 2021-2022 during the training programme, which was attended by DC Tengnoupal Lourembam Bikram, Tengnoupal village chief H John Thangkhulen Mate and Crop Solutions -Centre for Plant Health Manipur consultant /proprietor Dr M Thoithoi as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Mutum Nabachandra spoke on the benefits of centrally sponsored schemes and state plan schemes such as MIDH, PMKSY, RKVY and PMFBY and explained how farmers can get farming inputs like seeds, machineries among others under these schemes.
He also spoke on establishment of orchard in hill areas and composite schemes as an alternative means of poppy plantation.
DC Bikram called upon the farmers to make the horticulture products of the district known to the international market and promote a particular product as special product of the district like Kachai lemon of Ukhrul and orange of Tamenglong.
