Imphal, November 09 2021: Condolences poured in from various quarters following the demise of eminent women activist and leader "Keithel Ima Mangi" yesterday.
People's Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM), in a press release expressed shock over the demise of Ima Mangi on November 8 .
Ima Mangi was an eminent women figure and former president of Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham and Saktam Kanba Lup who not only worked for the welfare and rights of the local vendors and labourers but also took a pivotal role in many social issues, noted PANDM in its press release.
Be it territorial integrity issue, ILP, movement against AFSPA-1958, immigrant influx, CAA etc, Ima Mangi had shown her concern and led from the front in the movements, PANDM said.
PANDM is deeply saddened to lose such a personality who was filled with leadership qualities, it said.
A condolence meeting was convened this afternoon at PANDM office wherein attendees observed a two minute silence in honour of the late Ima Mangi, the release said.
PANDM also went on to share the pain and sorrow of the bereaved family members and prayed that her soul may rest in peace.
Workers' Union Manipur (WUM), Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak (CLK) and Tarahei Youth Development Organisation (TYDO) too joined in paying respect to Ima Mangi.
WUM in a condolence note said that the union is extremely saddened over the loss of such a fearless and a caring women leader who dedicated herself for safeguarding and preserving the original outlook of Khwairamband Ima Keithel.
May her soul rest in peace in heavenly abode, said WUM while recalling Ima Mangi's motherly nature towards the union members.
While sharing the pain of the family at loss, WUM also stated that her demise is an irreparable loss to Khairamband Keithel community.CLK also echoed that same and maintained that the State has lost a great social activist but her ideals and sayings will keep inspiring generations.
May her soul rest in peace, CLK said.
TYDO also condoled the passing away of Ima Mangi and maintained that her demise has left a void hard to be filled.
