Imphal, November 09 2021: Deputy chief minister and NPP national vice president Y Joykumar has clarified that he had never said Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam should emulate him, adding that as a matter of fact both of them cannot copy each other.
Speaking during the reception programme of Usham Manglem, who is preparing to contest election from Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency, held at Mayol Badminton Indoor Hall, Iroisemba on Tuesday, Y Joykumar expressed that he is very amazed that MLA Shyam raised much hue and cry on social media as well as in the media over some words he said during the reception of an intending candidate from Langthabal AC.
Karam Shyam has claimed that a House Committee has cleared his name in connection with transportation of rice to Pherzawl.
Even after being an MLA for 10 years, he has no proper knowledge about the functioning of House Committee.
If there was a House Committee, he should reveal who is the chairman and members.
As far as his knowledge is concerned, there has been no member appointed for any such committee.
He is very stunned the way lies are being told to hide wrongdoings, Joykumar said.
The deputy CM clarified that the claim that he has pending cases in Supreme Court in connection with killing of 1500 people in fake encounters during his tenure as DGP is also totally false.
He became an IPS office in 1976 and after 37 years in service got retired on August 31, 2013 which is not something easy to do, he added.
The allegations that he has many lands and houses in Naoremthong, Lamboikhongnangkhong and Iroisemba are also totally baseless.
It was also claimed that he has large landholding and a house in Langthabal Kunja.
That land and house belong to his wife as her dad and his father in-law Karam Amumacha was one of the richest people in Manipur in the past.
The claim has been made to create misunderstanding that he has acquired them very recently, Joykumar emphasised.
Joykumar mentioned that Karam Shyam has contended that he does not know coalition ethics, as he voted for opposition during MP election.
In this regard, Karam Shyam needs to know that NPP at that time had broken the alliance with BJP and had sided with the Congress, Joykumar said.
The statement that he did not resign even after claiming that even if one NPP minister is removed all will resign is also false, Joykumar further said, adding that this shows that Karam Shyam does not know about party politics.
When two NPP ministers were removed, all of four of them decided to quit, but being in alliance with the BJP governments in the state and at the centre, they met with NPP national president at Guwahati and after deliberation decided to take back their resignation papers, Joykumar explained.
Joykumar mentioned that as Karam Shyam is alone in his party he will not know party politics.
Let's not indulge in falsehood and false claims and do politics in proper manner, he added.
