51 new cases, 3 deaths in last 24 hrs COVID-19

Imphal, November 08 2021: As many as 51 new Covid cases were detected in the State in the last 24 hours during which 3 unvaccinated persons also succumbed to the virus.
According to the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 49 from the general population and 2 from Central security personnel were confirmed Covid positive at RIMS (4), JNIMS (4) and other testing Centres (43) .
In all 1,689 samples were tested in the said period and as such the test positivity thus recorded is 3 percent against 2.9 percent recorded yesterday.
The positive cases belong to Imphal West (20), Imphal East (13), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (7), Kakching (3), Churachandpur (1), Ukhrul (1), Kamjong (3), said the common control room.
With this, the number of Covid cases in the State has risen to 1,24,137 (general population- 1,19,974 and Central security personnel- 4,343), it said.
Meanwhile, 2 residents of Imphal West and another from Ukhrul were reported dead by the State Level COVID-19 Audit Committee during the same period, it said.
All of the deceased had co-morbidities and were not vaccinated.
With this, the cumulative number of deaths is 1,937, it said.
Further, 44 persons were discharged from home isolation (19), RIMS (2), JNIMS (1) and CCCs (22), the common control room informed.
As such the number of recovered cases has reached 1,21,501 of which 1,17,177 belong to the general population and 4,324 to Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is 699 including 14 Central security personnel and the recovery rate is 97.88 percent, the release added.
The common control room also informed that 230 D-type and 30 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities in the State as on November 7 .
2504 Covid vaccine doses were also administered on November 7 in the State taking the cumulative number of doses administered to 2007056 .
Of the total, 7,53,758 constitutes the number of second doses and as such the second dose coverage as on the said date is 32.20 percent with Jiribam topping the list with 47 percent.
As per an update from the State Immunization Officer, Imphal West (46.43 pc), Kakching (42.30 pc) and Imphal East (41.40 pc) are second, third and fourth in the second dose vaccination coverage, the common control room informed.
Vaccination rate in the rest of the districts are : Chandel (38.35 pc), Bishnupur (35.44 pc), Churachandpur (34.07 pc), Thoubal (25.73 pc), Pherzawl (25.53 pc), Tengnoupal (21.18), Noney (21.16 pc), Tamenglong (19.87 pc), Senapati (19.77 pc), Kamjong (15.87 pc), Ukhrul (13.96 pc) and Kangpokpi (9.04 pc) .
