Hyderabad: Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) has launched Impact Labs, an initiative that focuses on compiling solutions by start-ups and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for complex social issues.
TSIC calls on beginners with technological and non-technological solutions in education, health and nutrition, assistive technology, age empowerment, women and children development, hunger, agriculture, livelihoods and community development, climate change and clean mobility to apply for the solutions program develop with NGOs and implement them at grassroots level.
NGOs including ActionAid India, World Vision India, Save the Children, Greenpeace, SOPAR-Bala Vikasa, Akshaya Patra, Youngistaan ​​Foundation, PLAN International and HelpAge India are part of the program. “The growing focus on social impact under the start-up ecosystem must be attributed to the collaboration between various entities and in this direction Telangana has launched the Impact Labs,” said Jayesh Ranjan, IT General Secretary.
“Impact Labs will provide a platform for both entities to put together a proof-of-concept from scratch for the defined problem statements and launch the same in Telangana,” said TSIC Chief Innovation Officer Dr Shanta Thoutam.
The startups can check the problem statements at teamtsic.telangana.gov.in/impact-labs/. The program will run for six weeks. Beginners who pursue sustainable development goals can be part of it. The beginners can use technical support and cloud services through AWS, access Telangana Social Startup Network, access the funding network and showcase opportunities to government and CSRs.
TSIC and Bala Vikasa International Center (BVIC), which promotes social entrepreneurship and business responsibility, has signed an MoU under the Impact Labs. BVIC will facilitate the incubation of a proof of concept and support with mentorship, co-creation sessions and CSR connect.
