Faculty development prog begins at CAU

Imphal, November 08 2021: A hve-day faculty development programme organised by Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, Directorate of Extension Education in collaboration with ICAR National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad under the theme 'Enhancement in agricultural research and education for the faculty of CAU, Imphal' began at the varsity on Monday.
The inaugural function of the programme, which is being participated by 40 delegates from various universities of seven North East states, was attended by CAU Imphal VC Dr Anupam Mishra as chief guest and ICAR (NAARM) Hyderabad director Dr Ch Srinivasa Rao as president.
CAU Imphal director of research Dr S Basanta Singh, CAU Imphal director of extension education Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma and NAARM principal scientist Dr M Balakrishna also attended the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anupam Mishra stressed on the need for faculty development programme to augment and familiarise the faculty on new methods of teaching, research and skill development.
On the first day, Dr Srinivasa Rao spoke on 'Prospects and challenges in agriculture education', Dr M Balakrishnana on 'AI and IoT applications in agriculture and allied sectors', CAU Imphal former VC Prof M Premjit Singh on 'Teaching-research-extension interface for development of agriculture and livestock sector in the state', NAARM ICM division head Dr Sk Soan on TPRS issues in agriculture', and principal scientist Dr D Thammi Raju, who attended the programme through online mode, spoke on the topic 'Overview of teaching management' as resource persons.
