Hyderabad: As expected, Rohit Sharma has been named to lead the Indian T20 team in the upcoming home series against New Zealand. The biggest news, however, is that current captain Virat Kohli’s name is missing from the 16-man squad in the team announced by the Chetan Sharma-led national selection committee on Tuesday. KL Rahul has been appointed Sharma’s deputy.
Hyderbad pass bowler Mohammed Siraj makes a return to T20 after impressive performances for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL over the past two years. Madhya Pradesh’s Venkatesh Iyer, who was impressive to Kolkata Knight Riders, was named along with Ruturaj Gaikwad in the group.
India will play 3 T20Is from 17 November 2021.
