Eskom will reduce load shedding from Stage 4 to Stage 3 from 05:00 on Wednesday until Friday 05:00.
Thereafter Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented until 05:00 on Saturday 13 November.
Eskom said in a statement that the emergency generation reserves had shown significant progress over the past two days, but it added that it was necessary to continue with load shedding in order to fully replenish the reserves.
Total breakdowns currently amount to 12 709MW while planned maintenance is 6 164MW of capacity.
South Africa has been hit by several unplanned breakdowns, which sparked a round of Stage 4 load shedding.
Earlier on Tuesday, Eskom CEO André de Ruyter said that most municipalities had not followed load shedding directives, which contributed to worsening load shedding stages in recent days.
He warned that load shedding would remain a risk until 4000 MW to 6000 MW of new capacity is added to the grid.
