Karnataka govt issues new Covid guidelines for short-time travellers from Maharashtra

Bengaluru, Nov 9 (UNI) Karnataka government has issued a fresh order asking people travelling to Karnataka from Maharashtra by any mode of transport to follow fresh Covid-19 guidelines following the rise in daily coronavirus in the neighbouring state.

The new guidelines, which were issued on Monday, will be applicable only to short-time travellers from Maharashtra or those visiting Karnataka for one or two days.

People travelling to Karnataka from Maharashtra should be asymptomatic like free from fever, cough cold, throat pain, fever, difficulty in breathing, etc, the order said.

It will be obligatory for the travellers to undergo thermal scanning for fever on arrival and carry Covid vaccination certificate for both doses, it said.

The travellers should compulsorily wear a face mask and follow the Covid appropriate behaviour (CAB) throughout their stay in Bengaluru and Karnataka. They should produce a valid return ticket, the order said.

Persons complying the norms strictly, may be exempted from mandatory RT-PCR negative test report for short duration of visit. Therefore, the concerned authorities are instructed to ensure the same, in the larger interest of public health, it said.

New guidelines were issued last month for international passengers arriving in the state from countries in Europe including the United Kingdom, and South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand and Zimbabwe.
