Some Xfinity customers in parts of Cincinnati may be experiencing internet and cable outages Tuesday morning.

According to the outage map on Xfinity's website, the issue is in cities across the U.S., with widespread outages including in Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, Detroit, New York City and Philadelphia.

Although the outage in Cincinnati is not showing as largely on Xfnity's outage map as other parts of the country, it is mainly concentrated in the northern part of the city. Small outages also appear to be reported in Dayton and Columbus.

At 11:43 a.m., Xfinity tweeted it had recognized the problem for some of its customers, calling the disruptions the result of a "network issue." The company had addressed the issue and is now working to restore service as it continues to address the root cause, according to the tweet.

Xfinity's website says the company is "working hard to get your service up and running." Xfinity is the brand name of Comcast Cable Communications, used to market consumer cable TV, internet, phone and wireless services.

According to Down Detector, a platform that tracks when services go down or have outages, the first main surge was reported around 8:45 a.m. It hit its peak in reports around 8:53 a.m., with 53,281 reports.

User reports to Down Detector were also reporting some potential outages with Verizon services Tuesday, mostly on the East and West Coasts, although Cincinnati did show on the map.
