MYSURU: 'This honor is for my husband
late KV Sampath Kumar and father-in-law late Varadaraja Iyengar who started the daily. Their memories were flooding in my mind while I was receiving the award.' This is the first reaction of
Vidushi Jayalakshmi KS, wife of late KV Sampath Kumar, editor of
Sudharma Sanskrit daily, after receiving the
Padma Shri award from President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
"This honor is for their hard work," said.
Jayalakshmi, who is nurturing several dreams about the Sudharma, continued the newspaper publication without any break even after her husband's sudden demise on Wednesday, June 30. It can be recalled that Sudharma newspaper is celebrating its centenary year this year.
"I am dedicating this award to my father-in-law, husband, and entire
Sudharma Pariwar. It is the dream of everyone," she said.
"My dream is converting the paper into a four pages newspaper besides expanding its footprint across the globe. Sanskrit has readers everywhere. We want to reach to all of them," she said.
"The award ceremony was filled with emotions. All the dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke with me. They remembered the legacy of the newspaper besides assuring all the help required. The moment was very emotional," she explained.
