Congressman Higgins on passage of infrastructure bill

A $1 trillion infrastructure bill years in the making has been passed by Congress. So how will that impact Western New York?

Buffalo-based Congressman Brian Higgins spoke to media Saturday at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

Higgins says there’s already several projects that come to mind.

“A new waterfront parkway at Louisiana Street,” Higgins said of where funds could be directed towards. “We’re looking to create more public access at the outer harbor and the Canalside. We are looking at the river lines as a potential beneficiary. We are looking at the DL&W redevelopment. These are projects that have broad support in the community. But the resources haven’t been there. And finally, for the first time in decades there will be a lot of federal money to Buffalo to make those projects, that vision, a reality.”

The new infrastructure bill should fund many things, including new roads, Great Lakes restoration and broadband internet.
