    Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market rises

    The 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 477.99 points at 60545.61

    NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

    NMDC Ltd(up 2.04%), Pokarna(up 1.01%), Coal India(up 0.59%), MOIL(up 0.53%) and 20 Microns(up 0.50%) stood among the top gainers.

    Oriental Trimex(down 4.00%), Ashapura Minechem(down 3.32%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 2.28%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 0.76%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(down 0.41%) and KIOCL(down 0.09%) were among the top losers of the day.

    The NSE Nifty50 index ended 151.75 points up at 18068.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 477.99 points at 60545.61.

    Titan Company Ltd(up 4.32%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 4.31%), UltraTech Cement(up 4.23%), Bajaj Finserv(up 4.12%), Tech Mahindra(up 3.34%), Grasim Industries(up 3.2%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 3.01%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 2.86%), HDFC(up 2.75%) and Tata Motors(up 2.39%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

    On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 10.76%), Divis Laboratories(down 5.98%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.53%), State Bank of India(down 1.36%), Maruti Suzuki(down 0.81%), Asian Paints(down 0.67%), Hindalco Industries(down 0.59%), Axis Bank(down 0.25%), ICICI Bank(down 0.25%) and Tata Consultancy(down 0.17%) closed in the red.
