An all-star cast with Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot and an epic con that sees two rivals battle it out with an FBI agent: As Netflix’s hotly anticipated film Red Notice lands here’s what you need to know
Sponsored by Netflix
With Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot as the main stars, it's no surprise that Netflix's new film Red Notice is the most hotly anticipated release of the year.
The all-star film is one of the streaming giant's most ambitious projects to date, with Dwayne Johnson revealing on Instagram that Red Notice is the 'largest investment Netflix has made on a film thus far'. The huge budget certainly matches the star power on screen and you just know it's going to be epic.
The result is an action-packed comedy that will leave your adrenalin soaring thanks to the tension of big fight scenes and it will also leave you laughing out loud at the witty quips and clever one-liners.
The premise of Red Notice is simple, an FBI profiler is following the careers of two of the world's most wanted con-artists and criminals.
When Interpol issues a Red Notice alert for both Nolan Booth (Reynolds) and Sarah Black (Gaddot), FBI agent John Hartley (Johnson) believes he is the only one who can bring them in.
When Hartley finds himself in the middle of a daring heist he is forced to team up with art thief Booth in an attempt to bring Black, known as 'The Bishop', down.
Allegiances are formed and the chase takes the trio to some of the most glamorous, iconic and dangerous locations on earth.

The con is on: Dwayne Johnson plays an FBI agent who is pursuing two of the world's most wanted criminals
The Pyramids in Egypt, the Louvre in Paris, Italy and even Russia are among the exotic backdrops depicted in the trailer, but the impressive vantages are overshadowed by the action between the characters.
Whether that's Booth being tackled by Hartley as the pair crash through a stain glass window onto a rooftop, or Black showing off her epic combat skills taking on both men and seemingly winning, all while dressed in a glamorous cocktail dress.
There are supercar chases, private jets, boats and even helicopters are deployed as The Bishop tries to evade Hartley and Booth and escape capture.

Making a scene: The action comedy will leave viewers captivated and enthralled
When it comes to weapons nothing is off limits, from priceless pieces of art to rocket launchers that have the power to blow up a small town, each character will use whatever is at hand to beat their opponents in whatever way they can.
There's certainly no shortage of humour in Red Notice with Reynolds delivering plenty of the hilarious quips that he's well known for in this role.
The unlikely pairing of an FBI agent and a top art thief provide the actor with ample material for jokes and whether the humour is down to a clever script or Reynold's delivery, the result is really, really funny.

Globe trotting: The film will take viewers all over the world from the sights of Europe to the stark backdrop of remote Russia

Brawn and brains? While The Rock embodies a tough, no-nonsense agent, Reynolds shows off his comedic skills with some hilarious one-liners in the film
And if Reynolds brings the funny to the film then Johnson is the muscle and Gaddot embodies the glamour, beauty and the brains with her character. Viewers are treated to a heady mix of action, style and humour which is captivating and entertaining in equal measure.
Which criminal will come out on top? Only time will tell but as Gaddot's character says: 'Never trust a thief.'

Who can you trust? In the film allegiances are made and broken and viewers will learn which criminal, if any, will come out on top
From screenwriter and director Rawson Marshall Thurber, rarely does a film come along with such appeal and such incredible star power with the likes of Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot together on screen.
In fact it's incredible that the film came together given it was filmed during the height of the pandemic. In a tribute to the film's crew Ryan on the final day of shooting Reynolds posted: 'My hat is OFF to this crew. I can’t emphasize their grit enough. Over 300 souls living in a sequestered bubble to make this a reality. They went to work under the most intense circumstances every day.'
He added: 'Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear masks. And visors. And have cotton swabs shoved up their noses every day.'
