The Block winners Mitch and Mark call for a MAJOR judging shake-up as they accuse the experts of being 'bad predictors of success' on auction day

The Block winners Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie have blasted the show's judges in a blistering radio interview after pocketing $744,000 on auction day.

The stylish grandads said the trio of interior design experts, Darren Palmer, Neale Whitaker and Shaynna Blaze, weren't qualified to estimate how much a home will sell for at auction and that a 'real estate expert' should be hired next year.

They told Nova's Fitzy and Wippa that Sunday's results prove the judges don't always get it right, because their house won and the Packham twins' house placed second - despite both teams being criticised for their design choices throughout the season.

The Sydney-based couple suggested producers hire someone who can properly assess how renovations will impact the sale price because Darren, Neale and Shaynna simply 'aren't good predictors of success'.

'The two houses, ours and the boys, that came first and second are not the houses the judges considered the best,' Mark said on Monday.

'So, you have to consider, and I keep saying this, you need a real estate expert in there. The judges are not good predictors of success on The Block.

'Next year's contestants: yep. You know what, you need to stick to your guns.'

He added: 'At the end, Shaynna was like, "Oh, I get it now. I have to eat my words,' and I was like, "Well, get a big shovel, darl, 'cause there's a lot of them!"'
