Shri Huidrom Nageshwar Singh, Meteorologist at IMD, designated as Leader for the 41-Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica for the year 2021-22.

Shri Huidrom Nageshwar Singh, from Wabagai Makha Leikai, Kakching District, Manipur presently working as Meteorologist-B in India Meteorological Department (IMD) under Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India has been designated as a Leader for Maitr for the 41-Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica (ISEA) for the year 2021-22.

The expedition will commence from National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, Goa, India on 17th November, 2021 and is expected to reach Maitri Station, Antarctica by 11th December, 2021 after routing through Cape Town, South Africa. This expedition will last till November, 2022 and finally return to India by March, 2023.

It may also be worthwhile to mention here that Shri H. N. Singh was a member of the “39th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica” from 1st December, 2019 to 21st January, 2021 and had successfully completed the said expedition with immense contributions in the field of scientific research associated with studies of ozone observations, sea waves, ice melting rates, snow storms, global warming, vertical atmospheric profile, etc.

Shri H. N. Singh has been an active founder member of Manipuri Diaspora Association (MDA), Delhi. He’s been always finding time to participate in a number activity of the association with enthusiasm and dedication.

His contribution towards the welfare measures undertaken by MDA for the Manipuris living in and around NCR is significant. He is also presently holding the post of General Secretary of MDA, Delhi.

His present selection as the team leader of ISEA 2021-22 is a true reflection of his sincerity, dedication, devotion and hard work in life. At this moment when one of the key members of MDA has been designated as Leader of the 41st ISEA at Maitri Station, Antarctica for the year 2021-22, MDA proudly congratulates him and extends best wishes for this challenging and daunting expedition.
