Hyderabad: Man grows cannabis on terrace, arrested

Hyderabad: A man, who was secretly growing marijuana plants on the terrace of his house for his own consumption and to sell it to customers as well, was arrested at Yapral on Sunday.

According to the police, P Venkata Narasimha Shastry, a resident of Godavari Gardens at Yapral, was growing the cannabis plant on his terrace for the last four months with the intention of making money by selling marijuana to his friends and other customers.

“On searching the premises, we found six flower pots with cannabis plants being grown in them. Each plant was about four feet in height,” an official said, adding that Shastry had planned to cultivate cannabis at his residence to evade police checking while drug peddling.

He was arrested and the cannabis plants were seized in the presence of Revenue officials. The Jawaharnagar police booked a case and took up investigation.
