MADURAI: Around 100 students staged a protest in front of the Madurai district collectorate on Monday demanding that universities conduct the semester exams online as it was done in the previous semester. With colleges reopened for second and third year students partially, most colleges and universities are looking to conduct the semester exam in offline mode on the campuses. “But, it is unfair for students as classes are yet to be completely offline. Even now, majority of students are depending only on online classes. Colleges cannot hold only online classes but conduct the exams alone offline,” said Munispandi, president, Anaithu Manavargal Munnetra Amaippu (AMMA). Students said holding offline exams would increase the burden of students and also affect them mentally amid such a challenging time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was also highlighted that many students were also yet to spend enough time in campuses for practical classes.
