Cross country state finals: Results for every Blue Water Area team

Michigan's top high school runners convened for the 2021 state finals Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
Thirteen area schools were represented by at least one individual runner. The boys teams that competed were Port Huron Northern, Armada, St. Clair, Yale and Deckerville. The girls teams that ran were Croswell-Lexington and Marysville.
Below is a look how each team and individual runner performed at the state finals.
Division 1
Port Huron Northern
The boys team placed 23rd. Junior Glen Davis led the Big Reds with a time of 16:48.36. He finished 71st out of 253 runners.
Division 2
Armada
The boys team finished 29th. Junior Camden Kohn placed 73rd out of 270 runners and ran a 16:52.28.
Freshman Brooklyn Kohn and sophomore Darrah Mackenzie qualified as individuals for the girls team. Kohn finished 72nd out of 254 runners and ran a 20:04.23. Mackenzie placed 173rd with a time of 21:15.95.
Croswell-Lexington
The girls team finished 25th. Freshman Eva Thompson placed 55th with a time of 19:52.73. Nick Knust competed as an individual for the boys team. The senior finished 210th ran an 18:07.12.
Imlay City
Senior Elizabeth Sliman and junior Jenna Denver qualified for states from the girls team. Sliman placed 83rd with a time of 20:15.30. Denver finished 154th and ran a 20:57.23.
Marysville
Appearing in their eighth straight state finals, the girls team finished 20th. Seniors Reese Powers (19:48.93) and Hannah Fisher (19:54.43) placed 50th and 57th, respectively.
North Branch
Two individuals from the girls team represented North Branch. Senior Haileigh Bissett ran a 21:04.96 and placed 161st. Sophomore Grace Clemens posted a time of 21:51.97 and finished 214th.
Richmond
Brianna Albers competed individually from the girls team. The sophomore placed 31th with a time of 19:22.41.
St. Clair
The boys team competed at the state finals for the 22nd consecutive year. St. Clair finished 12th. Senior Sam Vitale placed 45th (16:36.09) and junior Carter Boullard was 69th (16:49.77).
Junior Ava Pertigone ran for the girls team as an individual and placed 78th with a time of 20:11.73.
Yale
The boys team finished 15th. Junior Lukas Kriesch placed 34th (16:26.65) and sophomore Acer Campbell was 49th (16:37.86).
Division 3
Algonac
Senior Catie Dusenberry and freshman Haylee Byerly competed as individuals for the girls team. Dusenberry finished 105th (20:58.61) out of 252 runners and Byerly was 225th (23:32.45).
Almont
Junior Steven Butler and Dominic Pirrone competed as individuals for the boys team. Butler placed 185th (18:44.22) out of 257 runners and senior Pirrone was 202nd (19:00.57).
Senior Molly Kline and sophomore Ayla DeLaurier qualified as individuals for the girls team. Kline finished 147th (21:36.69) and DeLaurier was 213th (22:53.00).
Division 4
Cardinal Mooney
Sophomore Tyler Lenn and junior Matt Zammit Jr. competed in the state finals as individuals. Lenn placed 45th out of 247 runners with a time of 17:43.52. Zammit Jr. finished 193rd and ran a 20:04.69.
Deckerville
The boys team finished 21st. Junior Kendall Dumaw placed 60th out of 243 runners with a time of 17:53.89. Junior Sophia Sanford competed as an individual for the girls team. She finished 70th out of 243 runners and ran a 21:26.94.
